Retreat Itinerary 

Friday:

  • Afternoon (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Arrival and Check-in
    • Arrive at the retreat location.
    • Check-in and feel the building.
  • Late Afternoon (5:00 PM – 5:30 PM): Welcome and Orientation
    • Dive into the retreat spirit with a high-energy welcome.
    • Get ready for a thrilling orientation that sets the tone for an adventurous weekend.
  • Evening (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM): Dinner
    • Savor a delectable dinner that awakens your taste buds.
    • Share stories and laughter with newfound friends.
  • Night (8:30 PM Onward): Glow and Flow
    • Immerse yourself in the enchanting ambiance with a glow-in-the-dark welcome event.
    • Kick off the retreat with a vibrant bonfire and stargazing session.

Saturday:

    • Energize for the day ahead with a power-packed breakfast.
  • Morning (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM): Carrauntohil Climb
    • Embark on an epic journey to conquer Carrauntohil.
    • Summit success! Celebrate with breathtaking views and a trail-side feast.
  • Afternoon (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM): Return from Climb
    • Return victorious to the retreat haven.
    • Prepare for an afternoon of relaxation and rejuvenation.
  • Late Afternoon (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM): Sauna Treat or Free Time
    • Immerse yourself in a unique sauna experience like never before.
  • Evening (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM): Dinner Delights
    • Feast on a culinary masterpiece under the stars.
    • Share the day’s triumphs over a sumptuous dinner.
  • Night (9:30 PM Onward):
    • Free time

Sunday:

  • Morning (8:00 AM – 9:00 AM): Breakfast Bliss

What you wear while climbing Carrauntoohil is very important. It will ensure you will enjoy your climb especially when weather conditions are challenging. It is vital to ensure that you are warm, dry and comfortable in your clothing and footwear and that you have some essential equipment with you to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience. The following is a list of gear that you should own if you are a regular hillwalker or climber: See video and gear list below.

Clothing:

    • Lightweight, long thermal underwear
    • Short and long-sleeved t-shirts
    • Fleece jacket
    • Fleece or cotton trousers (no jeans)
    • Jacket – waterproof and breathable; with attached hood
    • Over-trousers, waterproof and breathable

Headwear:

    • Sun hat with good visor for summer
    • Balaclava/facemask – 1, lightweight
    • Woolly hat
    • Sunglasses – UV & IR protection

Handwear:

    • Gloves – 2 pairs, lightweight and heavier for the cold

Footwear:

    • Light hiking boots
    • Gaiters
    • Trekking Socks

Trekking equipment:

    • Daypack
    • Walking poles
    • Sunscreen – SPF 30-40
    • Lipscreen – SPF 20-40
    • Personal First Aid Kit

Miscellaneous items:

  • Spare boot laces, bulbs, batteries, memory cards, headtorch
  • Coldwater detergent and some toiletries
