Hi Adventurer,

We are so happy that you are part of the Pat Falvey Irish and Worldwide Adventures limited family.

We see that you are interested in our Fitness Assessment and our Alpine Skills Course.

Below you will find links to both topics and some videos to give you a better idea of both.

Alpine Skills Course

In our Alpine Skills Training (simulated conditions) you will learn how to be self-sufficient while travelling on snow and ice. The aim of this course is to provide you with the basic skills you will need to summit in winter conditions and it is recommended for people who wish to climb in areas such as the Alps, the Andes, the Himalaya and all the great mountain ranges of the world. The course is also suitable for those who wish to increase their general fitness and endurance in the outdoors.

We include a practical lesson on climbing equipment and other gear required such as your climbing harness and we train you to be proficient in the use of crampons, ice axes, ski poles and other climbing equipment. You will also learn certain techniques used in glacier travel, crevasse rescue, fixed rope techniques and abseiling in the comfort of controlled, simulated weather conditions.

Fitness Assessment

Our Fitness Assessment course is suitable for those who are planning to undertake a high-altitude trek or climb as well as for those who want an exciting weekend in the Irish mountains even if you are not yet going on a trek or expedition. The course is a test of stamina, skills and overall fitness and provides an excellent opportunity to test the gear and clothing you have and how they stand up in wilderness conditions.

It is highly recommended for anyone unsure of there own fitness for a big trek or uncertain of the gear they have.
